The work of local GP Patient Participation Groups will be showcased at two networking events later this month. Local people are being asked to come along and get involved.

Patient Participation Groups run in most GP practices across Dorset enabling patients to advise and inform the practice on what matters most to them and helping to identify local health issues.

Events take place in Wimborne and Dorchester, each featuring short presentations followed by a chance to view the work of local groups and find out more.
The events will be opened by John Davey LMC Regional Liaison Adviser (South West) General Medical Council. Light refreshments will be available.

Anyone who would like to find out more about the work of their local PPG or how to get involved will be welcomed at the event.

For those unable to attend, information is available via or at their local practice.

The PPG of Royal Crescent Surgery and Preston Road Practice in Weymouth is just one example of how a PPG can work well, with over one hundred members.

PPG co-ordinator Tracey Scorer said “PPGs bring so much to a practice, they are our front line, they are the people using the services – telling us what we need to know, what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong. Anyone is welcome and we have posters and forms to join the PPG in our practices, encouraging new patients to sign up. I would encourage everyone to speak to their local practice about how they can get involved.”

The May events take place:

Wednesday 23rd May 5.30pm – 8pm

Allendale Centre, Hanham Road, Wimborne Minster BH21 1AS

Thursday 24th May 2pm – 4.30pm

Dorford Centre, 2 Bridport Road, Dorchester DT1 1RR

Whilst there is no need to book it would help organisers to know how many people will be coming.

4 – 9 June 2018 is PPG week and during the week NHS Dorset CCG will be promoting involvement via social media including interviews and opportunities to get involved.
