Following the announcement in October that Abbotsbury Road Surgery will close at the end of March 2019, all patients registered with the surgery will receive a letter by 11th January 2019 advising them which local practice will be responsible for providing them with primary care services in the future and when the new arrangements will start.
Patients’ new practices will have full access to both their health record and any repeat medication that they currently receive.
The process of transferring patient information has been scheduled outside of practice working hours however in a few cases it may mean that some services are unavailable at both Abbotsbury Road and the new practice for a short period of time on the day of transfer. This minimal disruption may also affect existing patients of the new practice and we ask for your consideration during these times.
During these down times there are still a number of ways to get help if needed
- Call 111 for advice, they can also make you an appointment with the local out of hours GP service if you need it;
- Visit the Weymouth Urgent Treatment Centre at Weymouth Hospital;
- In an emergency call 999 or attend your nearest emergency department (also known as A&E).
Details of any disruption will be made available in advance both in practices and online via practice websites.
A drop in event has been organised for patients who have questions or would like more information. This takes place at Chickerell Primary Academy on 9 January between 5pm and 7pm. There is no need to register and you will be able to chat to staff from your new practice along with the CCG team.
Practices are also organising welcome sessions for new patients. Details of these will be included in the letters.
