Sue Brunt, the Chair of Bridges PPG in Weymouth has received the Mayor’s Community award for her role in coordinating volunteer marshals at the Weymouth & Portland COVID-19 vaccination centre. In her role as PPG Chair, Sue helped her local practice recruit and manage volunteer marshals for their flu vaccinations in autumn 2020 and following this success she was asked to do a similar role for the COVID-19 vaccination centre being setup in Weymouth. Little did she know over 6 months later Sue would still be at the helm of the vaccination effort, recruiting and placing 25 – 45 volunteers for each clinic!

Her dedicated commitment and countless number of hours spent organising the volunteers, liaising with the Primary Care Network (PCN) COVID-19 vaccination clinic management team, and volunteering for many marshal shifts herself, Sue’s efforts were recognised by Mayor Graham Winter when he presented her with the Mayor’s Community Award in June 2021.
