Current campaigns – Cover Up Mate, PPG Awareness Week, Carers Week, World Blood Donor Day
Cover Up Mate – encourages people who work outdoors, such as farmers, builders, gardeners and sports people, to take a safer approach to the sun in summer to help reduce the incidence of skin cancer.
PPG Awareness Week – aims to promote the role and benefits of PPGs to patients, the public, and health professionals, and to create more understanding of the value of true patient participation. The theme this year is ‘Celebrating General Practice’ – aiming to promote widely the value of ‘good’ PPGs, where informed and involved patients work together with their practice to improve the quality of care and outcomes for patients.
Carers Week – raises awareness of caring, highlights the challenges unpaid carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities across the UK. The theme this year is ‘Getting Carers Connected’ – everyone has a part to play in connecting carers and helping them get the support they need to care without putting off their own health needs or losing important relationships with others.
World Blood Donor Day – Friday 14 June is World Blood Donor Day, a worldwide annual campaign thanking the voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood, highlighting the importance of blood donation, and encouraging people to sign up.
