After a hugely successful eight months of operation Dorset’s large vaccination centre in Bournemouth will close its doors on Wednesday, 15 September.

The centre, hosted in the Purbeck Hall of the Bournemouth International Centre and run by Dorset HealthCare, has given more than 124,000 vaccinations since it opened in January and has played a key role in the county-wide programme to vaccinate local people.

Around 600 staff at the centre have been supported by more than 1,000 Community Action Network volunteers to offer both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines to people of all ages, starting with the over-80s and working through to the most recent group of 16-17 year olds.

The centre has also run dedicated clinics for specific ethnic minority ethnic groups as well as outreach services for homeless people and in community settings like St Luke’s Church, Winton and Bournemouth University.
