The project

With the population getting older with more complex care needs, we need to deliver the best possible care and we need to plan for that now.

'Making Purbeck Healthcare Fit for the Future' was a project led by NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) (which includes local GP practices) working in partnership with Dorset County Council and Dorset HealthCare Foundation Trust.

The project looked at how people in Purbeck can get the best possible health and social care in future. It started in December 2012 and ended in October 2014.

We followed a step-by-step process to develop thoughts on the best way forward and tested these ideas along the way. All of the learning from the project has been passed onto other NHS and social care projects.
